ABOUT THIS WINE
Real Tesoro del Principe Amontillado is a non-vintage fortified wine from Andalucía, Spain, produced by José Estévez S.A. under the Marqués del Real Tesoro banner. It is crafted primarily from Palomino Fino grapes, with some sources also mentioning Pedro Ximénez. The wine originates from the albariza soils of the Macharnudo vineyard area in Jerez de la Frontera. A distinctive aspect of this Amontillado is its selection from the oldest soleras of the estate and its rare barrel fermentation process. The Marqués del Real Tesoro winery itself has a history dating back to 1897, with soleras that are over two centuries old. The José Estévez Group acquired the winery in 1982, continuing its tradition of Sherry production.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Real Tesoro del Principe Amontillado is a fortified wine produced using the Solera and Criaderas system. The process begins with the fermentation of Palomino Fino grapes, with a notable characteristic being the barrel fermentation of a portion of the wine. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes a minimum of eight years of biological aging under a protective layer of flor yeast. This is succeeded by a further period of oxidative aging in American oak barrels, lasting at least another eight years. The Sherry Council mandates a minimum average age of over 15 years for this designation, ensuring a mature and complex profile.
