ABOUT THIS WINE
The Duorum Reserva Old Vines 2019 is a red wine from the Douro DOC in Portugal, produced by Duorum Vinhos. This project was established by winemakers João Portugal Ramos and José Maria Soares Franco. The grapes are sourced from old vines, some estimated to be up to 100 years old, located in the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior sub-regions. These areas are known for their mountainous, schistose soils and steep terraces. The 2019 vintage was characterized by a dry year with significant temperature variations, which resulted in grapes with good acidity and phenolic compounds. The wine is primarily composed of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, with smaller proportions of Tinta Roriz and potentially other old vine varietals.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Duorum Reserva Old Vines begins with careful selection and destemming of the grapes, followed by crushing. Pre-fermentation maceration is carried out at low temperatures. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures, not exceeding 28°C. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes aging for approximately 12 months in French oak barrels, with a mix of new (30%) and used (70%) oak. The grapes are harvested by hand into small 15 kg cases.
