ABOUT THIS WINE
Trius Winery has been a pioneer in the Canadian wine industry for over forty years, located in the cool-climate region of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. The estate achieved global recognition in 1991 when its iconic Bordeaux-style blend, Trius Red, became the first-ever Canadian wine to win 'Best Red Wine in the World' at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London. This historic milestone transformed global perceptions of Canadian viticulture. The Reserve Series represents a dedicated focus on single-varietal expressions, showcasing how classic European grapes adapt beautifully to the unique terroir of the Niagara Peninsula, influenced by Lake Ontario's moderating currents and sun-soaked shale soils.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon focuses on maximizing extraction and structure. Grapes are harvested from select sustainable vineyard blocks and undergo traditional fermentation with extended skin contact to extract deep color and robust tannins. Following primary fermentation, the wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation to soften its cool-climate acidity. The wine is then aged in a curated selection of French, American, and Hungarian oak barrels, which integrates complex oak characteristics and refines the tannin structure before bottling.
