ABOUT THIS WINE
Rét, produced by Alex and Maria Koppitsch in Austria's Neusiedlersee region, is a Supra-Varietal Red Wine from the 2024 vintage. The name 'Rét' means 'grassland' in Hungarian, reflecting the historical use of the land. The grapes are sourced from the Hutweide and Prädium plots on the Wagram-Plateau, characterized by sandy and gravelly soils. Alex and Maria Koppitsch, who took over their family estate in 2011, are committed to low-intervention, natural winemaking. The 2024 vintage of Rét is notable for the inclusion of 25% direct-pressed Rotburger rosé, a new addition intended to boost the wine's vibrancy. The wine is produced using biodynamic farming practices and minimal intervention, resulting in a pure expression of its terroir.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The 2024 Rét is produced using biodynamic farming methods. Grapes are destemmed and undergo spontaneous fermentation on skins for up to six days with natural yeasts, without temperature control. A unique aspect of this vintage is the inclusion of 25% direct-pressed Rotburger rosé. Following fermentation, the wine ages for seven months on its gross lees in stainless steel tanks and large acacia barrels. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered, with minimal sulfur added. The grapes are sourced from the Hutweide and Prädium plots on the Wagram-Plateau, which have sandy and gravelly soils.
