ABOUT THIS WINE
Kourtaki Retsina of Attica is a traditional Greek white wine from Attica, Greece. Produced by Greek Wine Cellars D. Kourtakis SA, a winery established in 1895 by Vassilis Kourtakis, it is made primarily from the Savatiano grape. The wine's distinctiveness lies in its historical winemaking method, which involves the addition of pine resin during fermentation, a practice with roots stretching back over two millennia. This technique imbues the wine with a characteristic herbal note, connecting it directly to ancient Greek viticultural traditions.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Kourtaki Retsina of Attica is produced using a traditional method that involves the addition of Aleppo pine resin to the grape must during fermentation. This technique is fundamental to achieving the wine's signature resinated character. Fermentation is typically carried out at controlled temperatures, not exceeding 22 degrees Celsius, for approximately twelve days. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes fining and filtering processes to remove the resin particles. As a non-vintage wine, it is crafted to maintain a consistent style across different production years.
