ABOUT THIS WINE
The Ried Frauenfeld St. Laurent is a single-vineyard wine from Familie Reinisch, produced in Tattendorf, Thermenregion, Austria. This 100% St. Laurent wine hails from the 'Erste Lage' (Premier Cru) vineyard of Ried Frauenfeld, characterized by its alluvial soils rich in limestone and chernozem. The Reinisch family, with a winemaking history dating back to 1923, is a leading producer of red wines in the region. The vineyard's unique conditions and the family's dedication contribute to a wine that is recognized for its distinctive character and balance, often compared to Pinot Noir for its flavor profile but with its own unique textural identity. Certified organic farming is practiced.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The St. Laurent grapes for Ried Frauenfeld are cultivated using certified organic farming methods. After harvest, the wine undergoes a cuvaison (maceration) period, which for the 2021 vintage lasted three weeks. Fermentation takes place in large wooden fermenters or stainless-steel tanks. The wine is then matured in a mix of large Stockinger casks and smaller French and Austrian barriques (500L), with the 2022 vintage spending 16 months in this process. This careful selection of vessels and aging duration aims to build structure and integrate oak characteristics harmoniously.
