ABOUT THIS WINE
AdegaMãe was established in 2010 by the Alves family as a tribute to the family matriarch, Manuela Alves. Located in the cool, wind-swept maritime terroir of Torres Vedras within the Lisboa region, the estate focuses on crafting expressive, fresh 'Atlantic wines'. While Riesling is exceptionally rare in Portugal, AdegaMãe recognized that their clay-limestone soils and strong Atlantic influence—characterized by morning sea mists and cool afternoon breezes—were structurally perfect for this noble Germanic grape. For this special 'Late Release' 2017 vintage, the winery chose to cellar the bottles for nearly five years before commercial launch in late 2022, allowing the wine to develop complex maturity while preserving its vibrant coastal energy.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process, led by head winemaker Diogo Lopes in collaboration with the legendary consulting winemaker Anselmo Mendes, begins with grapes sourced from a gentle clay-limestone slope in Alenquer. The grapes undergo 100% total destemming, followed by gentle pressing and cold decantation. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats at 15–16°C for 15 days to preserve primary fruit purity. The wine is then aged on its fine lees with regular stirring (battonage) for six months. Bottled in February 2018, this entirely unoaked wine underwent an extended 'Late Release' bottle maturation process, cellared at the winery for nearly five years before its commercial release.
