ABOUT THIS WINE
The Colla vineyard, a steep ridge in Vezza d'Alba, has been cherished by the Battaglino family for generations, passed down from grandfather Riccardo to Fabrizio. This historic site holds a legendary status in the region: when Roero achieved DOCG status, Fabrizio's 2005 vintage of Roero Colla was released with the very first official serial registration number, #000001. Operating as a boutique five-hectare estate, the winery focuses on expressing the dramatic, sandy marine terroir of the Roero hills, producing highly limited, artisanal wines that balance power with elegant drinkability.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Crafted from 100% hand-picked Nebbiolo grapes grown on steep, south-facing calcareous-sandy slopes. The grapes undergo temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 28 degrees Celsius, followed by a 15-day maceration on the skins to extract color and structure. After completing malolactic fermentation in steel, the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barriques from the Allier forest. Fabrizio utilizes a balanced wood program of 50% new and 50% used medium-toast barriques, taming Nebbiolo's robust tannins while preserving its vibrant fruit profile.
