ABOUT THIS WINE
Romanico 2020 is a red wine from the Toro Denominación de Origen (DO) in Spain, produced by Bodega Teso La Monja, part of the Eguren family's winemaking group. The Eguren family has a long-standing tradition in viticulture, dating back to the late 19th century, and established Teso La Monja to express the distinctiveness of the Toro region. Romanico is positioned as an introduction to the Tinta de Toro grape, aiming for a subtle and fresh representation of its character. The vineyards are situated in Valdefinjas and Toro, with vines of varying ages, including some pre-phylloxera plantings. The 2020 vintage is noted for its freshness, reminiscent of cooler years.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Romanico 2020 is produced using a traditional method with 100% destemming. Fermentation takes place in tanks and French oak barrels, employing indigenous yeasts sourced from the producer's vineyards. Malolactic fermentation occurs in both French oak barrels and tanks. The wine is aged for 6 months, with part of it maturing in used French oak barrels and the remainder in stainless steel tanks. The harvest is entirely manual, involving meticulous fruit selection at both the vineyard and winery stages. The producer follows integrated agricultural practices, focusing on environmental respect, organic fertilization, and minimal intervention, avoiding herbicides and systemic products.
