ABOUT THIS WINE
Rose & Arrow Estate was founded in 2012 as an elite collaboration between the late Hollywood filmmaker Mark Tarlov, legendary Burgundian winemaker Louis-Michel Liger-Belair of Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair, and world-renowned terroir geologist Pedro Parra. Located in the Eola-Amity Hills of Oregon's Willamette Valley, the estate is dedicated to uncovering the ultimate expression of volcanic basalt soils. By mapping the vineyards using electromagnetic technology and digging hundreds of soil pits, they isolate specific 'basalt ribbons' that impart Grand Cru-level texture and energy to the Pinot Noir. The 'Touchstone' cuvée is the flagship of the estate, sourced from a microscopic micro-parcel of less than one acre. The name Rose & Arrow represents the tension between the fragile vine (rose) and the hard volcanic rock (arrow).

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Winemaking is directed by Felipe Ramirez. Fruit from the tiny Touchstone parcel is harvested by hand and vinified in small, separate lots. The estate utilizes native yeast fermentations and employs meticulous, low-temperature extraction techniques to avoid rustic tannins and preserve the delicate fruit profile. The Touchstone cuvée undergoes a longer aging regime than other wines in the portfolio, spending an extra year in the cellar. Oak integration is highly restrained, utilizing mostly neutral French oak barrels with only 10% to 15% new oak to ensure the pure volcanic terroir is not masked by wood sweetness. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.
