ABOUT THIS WINE
Col d'Orcia Rosso di Montalcino 2022 is a 100% Sangiovese from the Montalcino DOC in Tuscany. The Col d'Orcia estate, founded in 1973 by the Cinzano family, is the largest certified organic vineyard in Tuscany. The winery's philosophy centers on tradition, integrity, and sustainability, striving to produce wines that reflect the unique soil and climate of Montalcino. The estate is situated on limestone and clay hillsides facing south, at an altitude of 250-300 meters. The 2022 vintage was characterized by warm temperatures balanced by late summer rains, leading to smaller grape yields and an earlier harvest.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Col d'Orcia Rosso di Montalcino 2022 begins with manual harvesting and rigorous selection of grape bunches. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures (below 28°C) for 10-12 days, employing medium-long maceration with pump-overs and délestages for delicate extraction. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation. It is then aged for 12 months in Slavonian oak casks (75 and 150 hl) before a year of bottle refinement. The estate is certified organic, reflecting a commitment to sustainable viticulture.
