ABOUT THIS WINE
Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona Rosso di Montalcino is a 100% Sangiovese Grosso from the Montalcino region in Tuscany. The estate, with a history dating back to the 17th century, was passed to Giuseppe Bianchini in 1985, who, with his children Paolo and Lucia, continues to champion the estate's Sangiovese. The vineyards are located on the southeastern slopes near Castelnuovo dell'Abate, benefiting from mineral-rich soils and varying elevations. The 2023 vintage was characterized by a balanced growing season, contributing to the wine's purity and acidity. The estate practices organic farming and maintains lower yields than legally required for the appellation.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona Rosso di Montalcino is produced from 100% Sangiovese Grosso grapes. Following harvest in late September to early October, the grapes undergo controlled temperature fermentation in stainless steel and cement tanks. The wine is then aged for 12 months in large Slavonian oak barrels (foudres) of 20-75 hectoliter capacity. The estate adheres to organic farming practices in its vineyards.
