ABOUT THIS WINE
Meinklang is a holistic, multi-generational family-run farm in Pamhagen, Burgenland, Austria, managed by Angela and Werner Michlits. Operating as a closed-loop biodynamic estate, the farm is treated as a single living organism where a large herd of Angus and Aubrac cattle roam the pastures, providing vital manure to fertilize the vineyards. Alongside native grapes, the family cultivates ancient grains, runs apple orchards, and preserves wild herb spaces to foster rich biodiversity. The name 'Mulatschak' is of Hungarian origin, translating to a 'cheerful celebration' or 'festive gathering,' perfectly capturing the unpretentious, high-energy spirit of this natural wine.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are entirely hand-harvested from low-lying vineyards in the Pamhagen flatlands, characterized by sandy loam, clay, and rocky soils. In the cellar, the Zweigelt and Sankt Laurent grapes undergo spontaneous co-fermentation using indigenous wild yeasts. The wine typically undergoes about four days of skin contact, with occasional short carbonic maceration. Vinification takes place entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with zero oak contact. The wine is aged for four months on its fine lees (sur lie) before being bottled completely unfiltered, unfined, and with minimal sulfur additions.
