ABOUT THIS WINE
The Maison Chanzy Rully En Rosey 2021 is a red wine from the Rully AOC in Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise, crafted from 100% Pinot Noir. The 'En Rosey' vineyard is distinguished by its high altitude, being the highest site in the village at 350 meters above sea level. Maison Chanzy's philosophy involves vinifying and aging each vineyard plot individually to highlight its unique characteristics. The producer, Maison Chanzy, was established in 1974 and is recognized for its commitment to expressing the terroirs of the Côte Chalonnaise. The 2021 vintage was a classic Burgundy year, characterized by lower yields due to challenging weather conditions, which contributed to wines with good acidity and delicate red fruit profiles.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Maison Chanzy Rully En Rosey 2021 undergoes a winemaking process that begins with a 10-day cold pre-fermentation maceration in stainless steel tanks, utilizing pumping over and limited punch downs. Fermentation is completed in stainless steel. Thirty percent of the grapes from the 'En Rosey' vineyard were fermented whole cluster. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for ten months in large oak barrels (450 and 500 liters), with minimal new oak usage. The final stage involves five months of refining in stainless steel vats before bottling. The estate employs sustainable farming practices, including the use of organic fertilizers and avoiding herbicides and pesticides, and is pursuing HVE certification.
