ABOUT THIS WINE
San Calisto Valle Reale is a 100% Montepulciano from the Abruzzo region of Italy, produced by Valle Reale. It originates from the historic San Calisto vineyard, the oldest on the estate, with vines dating back to 1952 or 1960. The vineyard's location within a national park, influenced by the Gran Sasso mountain range, contributes to its unique character through high elevation, diurnal temperature shifts, and limestone-rich soils. Valle Reale, founded by the Pizzolo family, is committed to organic and biodynamic viticulture and non-interventionist winemaking, prioritizing the expression of the land.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
San Calisto Valle Reale is produced from 100% Montepulciano grapes. The winemaking process begins with spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts, taking place in large oak casks. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in large oak casks before being bottled. It then undergoes an additional 24 months of bottle aging. The grapes are harvested late in the season, typically not before the beginning of November. Valle Reale employs organic and biodynamic farming practices and a non-interventionist approach to winemaking.
