ABOUT THIS WINE
The Sant'Or Santameriana is a truly unique expression of Greek winemaking, born from a dedicated effort to revive a nearly extinct indigenous grape. Producer Panagiotis Dimitropoulos of Sant'Or Wines is the sole custodian of the Santameriana variety, named after the village of Santomeri in Achaia, Peloponnese, where it exclusively grows. Sant'Or Wines is a family-owned estate, distinguished as Greece's first Demeter-certified biodynamic winery. Their commitment to minimal intervention and local varieties shines through in this wine, which represents a profound connection to the land and a rich winemaking heritage.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Sant'Or Wines practices certified organic and Demeter-certified biodynamic viticulture in their dry-farmed vineyards, located at 400-600 meters altitude on Mount Skollis. The 17-year-old vines yield an average of 3,000 kg. In the cellar, the wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in traditional clay amphorae. A crucial 20-day skin contact period imparts the wine's distinctive orange hue and textural complexity. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 6 months in a combination of clay amphorae (some over 200 years old) and cement eggs. It is bottled unfiltered and unfined, with minimal sulfur additions, preserving its natural character.
