WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Seghesio Sonoma Zinfandel 2021 is crafted primarily from Zinfandel, with blends often including Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouschet, and other red varietals. Fermentation techniques varied, utilizing pump-overs in closed stainless steel tanks, open-top fermentation with punch-down cap management, and stainless steel rotary tank fermentation, with skin contact lasting 7 to 12 days. Malolactic fermentation occurred in barrels. The wine was subsequently aged for 10 months in a combination of 7% new American oak and 93% neutral French and American oak barrels. Seghesio Family Vineyards prioritizes sustainable farming practices, with 55% of their fruit sourced from certified sustainable estate vineyards.
