ABOUT THIS WINE
Marqués de Vargas Selección Privada 2017 is a red wine from the D.O.Ca Rioja region of Spain, produced by Bodegas Marqués de Vargas. The wine is a testament to the winery's commitment to quality, drawing grapes from the oldest plots on their estate, designated as 'Viñedo Singular' due to their unique characteristics and terroir. These plots, featuring calcareous-clay soils with gravel, are home to vines with an average age of 45 years. The Selección Privada is a limited production wine, typically made only in the best vintages, and was originally intended for the winery's private consumption before its release to the market. Bodegas Marqués de Vargas was founded in 1989 with a focus on producing red Reserva wines that express the distinctiveness of their estate and possess significant aging potential.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Marqués de Vargas Selección Privada begins with hand-harvested grapes, collected in small boxes and cooled overnight. Fermentation utilizes indigenous yeasts and occurs in tanks adapted to the soil type of each plot, with each grape variety vinified separately. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 22 to 25 months in new French oak barrels. The winery employs sustainable agricultural practices, avoiding herbicides and pesticides.
