ABOUT THIS WINE
Sempar Vinho Tinto, from Niepoort Vinhos, is a red wine from the Alentejo DOC, specifically the Portalegre sub-region. The name 'Sempar' reflects the producer's aim to create wines that are unique and express the vineyard's character. This wine originates from old vines, approximately 80 years old, situated at a higher elevation near the Serra de Mamede mountains. This location contributes a distinct freshness to the wine, balancing the typical warmth of the Alentejo region. Niepoort Vinhos is a family-owned company with a long history, and Dirk Niepoort, a key figure, champions the creation of uncomplicated wines that highlight their terroir.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Sempar Vinho Tinto is produced from a field blend of indigenous Portuguese grape varieties grown on old vines. The majority of the grapes are destemmed before fermentation, which takes place in concrete amphorae. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for an extended period of 36 months, also in amphorae. This winemaking approach focuses on preserving the natural character of the grapes and the vineyard, avoiding overt oak influence and emphasizing the purity of the fruit and the terroir.
