ABOUT THIS WINE
Champagne Marguet, led by the visionary Benoît Marguet, is one of the most pioneering and spiritual houses in the Champagne region. Located in the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay, the estate has been certified biodynamic since 2013. Benoît's holistic approach treats the vineyards as a living ecosystem, utilizing aromatherapy, phytotherapy, and draught horses to plow the soils, completely avoiding heavy machinery. The 'Shaman' cuvée is Marguet's flagship release, representing a highly individualistic approach to Champagne. Rather than blending multiple vintages to achieve a standardized house style, Marguet highlights a single base year—in this case, the sun-drenched 2022 harvest—allowing the unique energy and climate of that season to express itself fully. Sourced entirely from elite Grand Cru plots in Ambonnay and Bouzy, this Rosé is highly unusual for its Chardonnay-dominant blend, offering a rare and intellectually engaging expression of Grand Cru terroir.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Shaman 22 Rosé reflects Benoît Marguet's non-interventionist, natural philosophy. Grapes are hand-harvested from old vines averaging 40 years of age. Spontaneous fermentation is carried out parcel-by-parcel using only indigenous yeasts in neutral oak casks and wooden foudres, completely avoiding stainless steel. The wine undergoes primary aging on its lees for nine months in used oak barrels. It is bottled unfined, unfiltered, and without cold stabilization. Secondary bottle fermentation on the lees lasts between 24 to 30 months. Disgorgement took place in spring 2025 with zero dosage (Brut Nature), preserving the raw, pristine energy of the fruit. No sulfur dioxide was added during the vinification or bottling processes, resulting in an exceptionally low total sulfite level.
