ABOUT THIS WINE
Altolandon's "Sin Filtros" is a distinctive orange wine from one of Spain's highest altitude wineries, located at 1100 meters in the D.O. Manchuela region of Castilla-La Mancha. Owner and winemaker Rosalia Molina is dedicated to crafting high-quality wines that truly express their unique terroir. The extreme elevation provides a crucial cooling effect and significant diurnal temperature shifts, which are vital for developing the grapes' acidity, tannins, and a complex array of aromas and flavors. This commitment to the vineyard and the specific grape varieties, particularly Grenache Blanc, underpins Altolandon's philosophy of minimal intervention and authentic expression.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking for Sin Filtros emphasizes a hands-off, natural approach, starting in certified organic vineyards that also practice biodynamic principles. Minimal irrigation, environmentally friendly fertilization, and green harvesting are employed to reduce yields and enhance grape quality. The Grenache Blanc grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation in 1000-liter amphorae, with no commercial yeasts added. A crucial step involves leaving the grape skins in contact with the juice for 10 days, which imparts the wine's characteristic orange hue and dry tannin structure. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 5 months on its lees in the same amphorae. It is unfined and unfiltered, with no added sulphites, resulting in a total sulphite content of less than 10 mg/L.
