ABOUT THIS WINE
Solar de Becquer Gran Reserva is a red wine from Bodegas Escudero, produced in the D.O.Ca. Rioja region of Spain. The wine's name is inspired by the poet Gustavo A. Bécquer, who found inspiration in the vineyard's landscape. The Escudero family has a winemaking history dating back to 1852, emphasizing traditional methods and estate-grown fruit from old vines. The vineyards are located on the southern slope of Mount Yerga, at altitudes ranging from 450 to 800 meters, on calcareous-clay soils. The 2011 vintage was characterized by warm, dry conditions, leading to concentrated fruit.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes for Solar de Becquer Gran Reserva are hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks using native yeasts, with a maceration period of approximately 10 days. The wine is then aged for at least 24 months in American oak barrels, followed by significant bottle aging. The vineyards are managed using traditional methods without chemical intervention. The 2011 vintage was characterized by warm, dry weather, leading to low yields and concentrated grapes.
