ABOUT THIS WINE
Weingut Baum-Barth is run by brothers Christoph and Thomas Baum-Barth, who took over and fully realigned the family estate in 2020. Located in the traditional Pinot Noir stronghold of Ingelheim am Rhein, historically known as the 'Rotweinstadt' (Red Wine City) in Rheinhessen, the estate focuses on crafting high-quality, terroir-driven wines. The brothers transitioned the winery away from bulk wine production, systematically acquiring older, prized parcels on fossil-rich limestone (Muschelkalk) soils to showcase the elegant potential of German Spätburgunder.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process is characterized by low-intervention, gravity-fed methods. Sourced from four distinct parcels in Ingelheim averaging 25 years of age, the grapes undergo a 100% manual, selective harvest. The grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with 14 days of skin contact (Maischegärung), followed by gentle gravity-fed pressing. The wine is matured for 12 to 15 months in neutral, used 225-liter French oak barriques and larger tonneau barrels, followed by an additional 6 months of bottle aging before release.
