ABOUT THIS WINE
Spinifex Syrah is a red wine from the Barossa Valley, South Australia, produced by Spinifex Wines. Founded by Peter Schell and Magali Gely, the winery focuses on expressing vineyard provenance and vintage character, drawing inspiration from both old-world winemaking and the unique Australian terroir. The 2019 vintage specifically utilized fruit from six vineyards across the Barossa and Eden Valleys, with an emphasis on early hand-harvesting to maintain freshness. The wine is noted for its distinctive approach, balancing intensity with elegance and a European-influenced finesse.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Spinifex Syrah is produced using a combination of traditional and modern winemaking techniques. Fruit is hand-harvested early to preserve freshness. Fermentation takes place naturally in stainless steel, wood, and concrete vessels, often with a judicious use of whole clusters and whole berries. Macerations are typically extended, followed by aging on light lees in large format vessels for around 8 months. Maturation occurs in seasoned French oak, with minimal new oak influence, to complement the wine's character.
