ABOUT THIS WINE
Spottswoode Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 hails from St. Helena, Napa Valley, a historic estate founded in 1882 and now family-run. The vineyard, farmed organically since 1985, is situated on well-drained alluvial clay loam soils, influenced by cooling maritime breezes. This 2020 vintage is notable for its purity and elegance, achieved despite the challenging growing season characterized by drought and wildfires, with the harvest completed just before the Glass Fire, ensuring no smoke taint. The wine is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, with smaller additions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Spottswoode Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is produced using grapes from their organically farmed estate vineyard in St. Helena. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels. Following fermentation, it is aged for approximately 21-22 months, with a substantial portion of new French oak used (55-65%). The 2020 harvest was completed just prior to the Glass Fire, ensuring fruit integrity. Yields were naturally reduced due to drought conditions, leading to concentrated fruit.
