ABOUT THIS WINE
The Szekszárd Bikavér 2022 from Heimann & Fiai is a red wine from the Szekszárd DOC in Hungary. Bikavér is a traditional Hungarian blend, with Szekszárdi Bikavér regulations requiring a minimum of four grape varieties, including Kékfrankos and Kadarka. The Heimann family has a long winemaking history in the region, dating back to 1758. Zoltán Heimann Jr. is noted for his focus on indigenous Hungarian grape varieties. The winery practices organic farming and a low-intervention winemaking approach, aiming to express the unique character of the Szekszárd terroir. Heimann was recognized as 'Winery of the Year' by the Gault-Millau Guide in 2016.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Heimann & Fiai Szekszárd Bikavér 2022 is produced using spontaneous fermentation, often with whole clusters, in open or wooden vats. Minimal intervention is a core principle. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes aging for approximately one year, typically in large barrels (fuder) or used oak barrels, with a focus on not overpowering the wine's natural characteristics. Manual harvesting is employed. The winery adheres to organic farming practices.
