ABOUT THIS WINE
Established in 1998 by the Peabody family, Craggy Range is a landmark estate in New Zealand, protected by a unique 1,000-year family trust to ensure multi-generational family ownership. Under the direction of Chief Winemaker Ben Tombs, the winery focuses on single-vineyard, terroir-driven wines. The Te Muna Road Vineyard is situated on an elevated terrace seven kilometers east of the Martinborough township. Sitting 50 meters higher than the valley floor, this unique site experiences cooler temperatures and strong winds, which naturally limit vine vigor. The 2024 vintage represents a remarkable season where a cool, wet spring reduced yields, but was followed by an exceptionally warm, dry summer, resulting in highly concentrated, structurally complex fruit from 25-year-old vines.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes for the Te Muna Road Vineyard Pinot Noir are 100% hand-harvested from the estate's upper terrace, which features fine silty loam over ancient gravelly river stones and volcanic ash. In the winery, the fruit is destemmed and transferred to open-top oak tanks. Fermentation is carried out using exclusively indigenous wild yeasts to enhance structural complexity and terroir expression. Following fermentation, the wine is matured on its lees for 10 months in French oak barriques (225L), with 24% new French oak utilized for the 2024 vintage. The wine is bottled without animal-derived fining agents, making it vegan-friendly.
