ABOUT THIS WINE
The Tenute Mannino Etna Rosso 2022 hails from the Etna DOC appellation in Sicily, Italy. Produced by Tenute Mannino, a family winery with roots stretching back to 1873, this red wine is crafted primarily from Nerello Mascalese (95%) with a touch of Nerello Cappuccio (5%). The vineyards are located in the Bragaseggi district on the northern side of Mount Etna, at an elevation of 600 meters, where the soil is volcanic sand derived from lava. The estate is managed by Giorgio Mannino, representing the sixth generation of winemakers. The wine's distinctiveness stems from its volcanic terroir and the character imparted by very old vines, some dating back 60 to 120 years.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Tenute Mannino Etna Rosso 2022 undergoes spontaneous alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Maceration lasts for 7 to 8 days, followed by an additional 7 to 8 days on the skins, with daily pump-overs during the first 10 days of fermentation. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in 1500-liter French Oak foudres and 500-liter demi-muids. Harvest is conducted manually in the second half of October, and farming practices are described as sustainable.
