ABOUT THIS WINE
The Zidarich Teran 2020 is a red wine from the Carso DOC in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy, made from 100% Teran grapes. Azienda Agricola Zidarich, led by Benjamin Zidarich, is known for its natural winemaking philosophy, focusing on minimal intervention and expressing the unique Karst terroir. The estate's vineyards are situated on iron- and calcium-rich red soils over limestone bedrock, with vines cultivated using Guyot and Albarello trellising. Zidarich's approach emphasizes respect for nature and allowing the grapes and territory to express themselves fully, with wines fermented spontaneously and aged in large Slavonian botti.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Zidarich Teran 2020 is produced using traditional and natural winemaking methods. Grapes are hand-harvested from vineyards planted in iron- and calcium-rich red soils over limestone. Fermentation is spontaneous, occurring in open vats without temperature control, utilizing indigenous yeasts. Skin-contact maceration is employed, followed by an aging process of over 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks (botti). The winery emphasizes minimal intervention throughout the process, with a focus on sustainability and allowing the terroir to express itself. Wines are typically bottled two years after the vintage.
