ABOUT THIS WINE
Kellerei Cantina Terlan, founded in 1893 in South Tyrol, is one of Italy's most prestigious wine cooperatives. Renowned for producing white wines with extraordinary longevity, the estate's crown jewel is the Terlaner I Primo Grande Cuvée. Conceived by winemaker Rudi Kofler, this wine represents the pinnacle of the estate's century-long history and is crafted to showcase the unique volcanic terroir of the Terlano DOC. Sourced from the oldest and finest parcels of the estate's premier Cru sites—Vorberg, Kreuth, and Winkl—this limited-production wine is often compared to the finest Grand Crus of Burgundy. The volcanic red quartz porphyry soils of the region impart a distinctive mineral tension and salinity, making this one of the most sought-after and collectible white wines in Italy.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The 2020 vintage is a meticulous blend of 70% Pinot Bianco, 28% Chardonnay, and 2% Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes are hand-harvested from steep, high-altitude vineyards ranging from 330 to 600 meters above sea level. Following a gentle whole-cluster pressing, the must undergoes natural cold sedimentation. Fermentation takes place slowly under temperature-controlled conditions in large 12-hectoliter oak casks, followed by full malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged on its fine lees for 12 months in traditional large wooden casks to build texture and complexity. The final blend was assembled in May 2022 and bottled in August 2022, resulting in a wine of immense structural integrity and aging potential.
