ABOUT THIS WINE
The Terra Ambera Amphora is a dry orange wine from Garalis Winery, located on Lemnos Island, Greece. Produced from 100% Muscat of Alexandria grapes, this wine is a testament to ancient winemaking traditions. The winery, a family venture by third-generation growers, is committed to organic farming and minimal intervention. The unique volcanic and limestone soil of Lemnos contributes significantly to the wine's character. A distinctive aspect of this wine is its vinification process, which involves fermenting and aging in clay amphoras that are buried underground, a technique revived from ancient Greek practices.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Terra Ambera Amphora is crafted using ancient winemaking methods. Muscat of Alexandria grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in reclaimed clay amphoras that are buried underground. The wine experiences 4 months of skin contact within these amphoras, followed by 4 months on its lees and a further 2 months of maturation. The process involves regular immersion of the grape skins (pigiage) and no temperature control. The wine is bottled without stabilization or filtration, with minimal sulfur additions. The vines are cultivated organically, with no chemical interventions, irrigation, or fertilization, and are trained into cup shapes on volcanic and limestone soils.
