ABOUT THIS WINE
Testament Winery, a modern Croatian producer, masterfully blends two millennia of Dalmatian winemaking tradition with contemporary techniques. Backed by a Swedish investment fund and guided by local winemaker Juraj Sladić, their mission is to craft high-quality Croatian wines that remain accessible. This Plavac Mali hails from the sun-drenched Jadrtovac vineyard in North Dalmatia, near the historic town of Šibenik. Planted in 2007 on rocky, organic soils, the 47-hectare vineyard forces the indigenous Plavac Mali grapes to struggle, concentrating their flavors and aromas. This specific microclimate and terroir are key to the wine's rich and complex character, making it a distinctive expression of Croatian winemaking.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Testament Plavac Mali is crafted from 100% organically grown Plavac Mali grapes sourced from the Jadrtovac vineyard. After careful harvesting, the grapes undergo fermentation with skin contact for a period of 10 days, allowing for optimal extraction of color, flavor, and tannins. This is followed by a natural malolactic fermentation, which softens the wine's acidity and adds complexity. The 2018 vintage was then aged for 14 months in new barrique barrels, utilizing a combination of American and French oak. This oak aging contributes to the wine's structure, adds aromatic complexity, and helps to round out its firm tannins.
