ABOUT THIS WINE
The Wanted Zin Zinfandel Old Vines is a red wine from Puglia, Italy, produced by Orion Wines. It is made from 100% Zinfandel grapes, which are genetically identical to Primitivo and trace their origins to the Croatian grape Crljenak Kaštelanski. The wine is distinguished by its use of old vines, averaging 40-50 years in age, cultivated organically in the Salento area using the traditional Alberello basso training system. Orion Wines, founded by Alessandro Michelon and Elena Ciurletti, aims to produce high-quality, interesting wines at accessible price points, managing the entire winemaking process from vineyard to market.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Wanted Zin Zinfandel Old Vines is produced from 100% Zinfandel grapes harvested manually in late August from organic vineyards in Puglia. After destemming, the grapes are not crushed to preserve their integrity for optimal color extraction. Fermentation occurs at a controlled temperature of 24-25°C for 8-10 days, utilizing frequent remontage and delestage for gentle extraction of aromas and tannins. Malolactic fermentation is induced after racking. Half of the wine is then aged for eight months in American oak barrels.
