ABOUT THIS WINE
The Tommasi Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2020 is an Italian red wine from the Veneto region, produced by the family-run Tommasi Viticoltori. It is crafted using the traditional 'Ripasso' method, which involves a second fermentation on the skins of Amarone, a process that adds depth and complexity. The grapes are sourced from three key Tommasi vineyards within the Valpolicella Classica zone. The 2020 vintage holds significance as it commemorates the 30th anniversary of Tommasi's Ripasso, a wine that has become an icon of the region. Tommasi Viticoltori, founded in 1902, brings four generations of winemaking expertise to this expression.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Tommasi Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2020 is produced using the distinctive 'Ripasso' technique. Following an initial fermentation, the Valpolicella wine is refermented on the Amarone grape skins for 9 to 12 days. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel or oak truncated-cone vats at controlled temperatures. The wine is then aged for a minimum of 18 months in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by at least 6 months of bottle aging. The grape blend primarily consists of Corvina Veronese, Rondinella, and Corvinone, with some sources also mentioning Molinara.
