ABOUT THIS WINE
Torcicoda, produced by Tormaresca in the Salento region of Puglia, is a 100% Primitivo wine. The name 'Torcicoda' has a dual meaning, referencing a historical farming tool and the luxuriant, coiling growth of the Primitivo vine. Historically, this wine was associated with fertility and wealth, sometimes included in a bride's dowry. Tormaresca itself is the Puglian estate of the renowned Antinori family, established in 1998 with the aim of highlighting the diverse potential of Puglia's terroir and indigenous grape varieties. Torcicoda is recognized as a benchmark for modern Primitivo from Salento, offering a polished, elegant, and complex expression of the grape that balances its natural power with the finesse characteristic of Antinori's winemaking.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Primitivo grapes for Torcicoda are sourced from Tormaresca's Tenuta Maìme estate in Salento. The grapes are hand-harvested slightly over-ripe to enhance concentration. After destemming and soft crushing, fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures (max 28°C) with a maceration period of about 13 days, employing gentle pump-overs and délestage. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barriques. The wine is then aged for approximately 10 months in French and Hungarian oak barriques, followed by a further 8 months of bottle aging before its release.
