ABOUT THIS WINE
Tros De Mas Vilella 2021 is a red wine from the Baix Penedès region of Catalonia, Spain, produced by Autòcton Celler. The wine is a blend of 50% Sumoll and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon. Autòcton Celler is the personal project of winemaker Albert Jané, who is dedicated to reviving and promoting indigenous Catalan grape varieties, such as Sumoll, on his family's ancestral estate. The grapes are grown in poor, stony soils at elevations between 300 and 500 meters, contributing to the wine's distinct character. The project emphasizes minimal intervention winemaking.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Tros De Mas Vilella 2021 is produced using a combination of fermentation vessels, including earthenware amphorae, stainless steel vats, and large French oak barrels. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes a 12-month aging period in 400-liter French oak barrels and amphorae. The grapes are harvested by hand, with a focus on maintaining low yields. Autòcton Celler employs organic farming practices, certified since 2017, and adheres to a philosophy of minimal intervention in the winemaking process.
