ABOUT THIS WINE
Ultreia Godello is crafted by Raúl Pérez, one of Spain's most visionary and iconic winemakers. Sourced from the rugged, slate-and-clay soils of Bierzo in northwestern Spain, this wine captures the essence of the Godello grape. The name 'Ultreia' is a historic Latin salutation meaning 'onwards!' or 'beyond!', used by pilgrims walking the Camino de Santiago, which winds directly through these ancient vineyards. Raúl Pérez's philosophy centers on minimal intervention, allowing the unique terroir of Bierzo and the natural character of the vintage to express themselves fully without clinical cellar manipulation.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The 2023 vintage marks a historic milestone for Ultreia Godello, being the first-ever bottling to undergo full malolactic fermentation. This occurred naturally during an exceptionally slow, nine-month spontaneous fermentation using native yeasts and no temperature control. To preserve the wine's structural integrity and texture, 70% of the wine was fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks, while the remaining 30% was aged in neutral, used French oak barriques. The wine was raised on its fine lees for approximately 12 months and bottled unfiltered with minimal sulfur additions.
