ABOUT THIS WINE
Vega Sicilia Unico is the flagship wine of Bodegas Vega Sicilia, a winery established in 1864 in the Ribera del Duero region of Spain. The wine is primarily made from Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) with a small addition of Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery's philosophy emphasizes patience and quality, with Unico undergoing an exceptionally long aging process, often a decade or more, before it is released. The 2011 vintage benefited from a balanced growing season, leading to concentrated yet elegant fruit.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Vega Sicilia Unico is produced using traditional methods with a strong emphasis on patience. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in wooden tanks with native yeasts. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes an extensive aging process, typically around 10 years, in a combination of large oak vats and French and American oak barrels of varying ages. This extended maturation is a defining characteristic of the Unico's production.
