ABOUT THIS WINE
Ampeleia was founded in 2002 by a group of friends, including the visionary winemaker Elisabetta Foradori, in the wild and rugged Colline Metallifere region of southern Tuscany near Roccatederighi. The estate is deeply committed to biodynamic agriculture, viewing the farm as a closed-loop organism. 'Unlitro' is their signature everyday wine, packaged in a generous one-liter bottle that pays homage to the traditional flasks shared among Tuscan farmers. It represents the estate's philosophy of conviviality, simplicity, and deep connection to the Mediterranean landscape.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Unlitro is crafted from a blend of Mediterranean varieties, predominantly Alicante Nero (Grenache), along with Carignano, Mourvèdre, Sangiovese, and Alicante Bouschet. The grapes are harvested by hand from various vineyard parcels situated between 200 and 600 meters above sea level. In the cellar, the winemaking is low-intervention: grapes undergo a short maceration of just 2 to 3 days to extract fresh fruit flavors without heavy tannins. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in cement tanks, where the wine also ages for approximately 6 months before being bottled unfiltered with minimal sulfur additions.
