ABOUT THIS WINE
The Uvaggio Coste della Sesia Rosso from Proprietà Sperino is a red wine from the Coste della Sesia DOC in Northern Piedmont, Italy. The estate is dedicated to reviving the tradition of historic Lessona wines, utilizing ancient vineyards and cellars. Proprietà Sperino is managed by the De Marchi family, who are committed to respecting local heritage and producing wines with minimal intervention, emphasizing the unique terroir. The region's soils, formed by a prehistoric supervolcano, are sandy and rich in minerals, contributing to the wines' distinct character. The Uvaggio stands out for its blend of indigenous grapes and its elegant, refined style, offering an alternative to more robust Nebbiolo wines.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Uvaggio Coste della Sesia Rosso is produced using grapes fermented with natural yeasts in open-topped wooden fermenters, followed by a gentle pressing and a skin maceration period of 23-25 days. The wine is then aged for 12 months sur lie and an additional 22 months in a combination of barrique, barrel, and large oak casks. Grapes are hand-harvested in small crates. The estate employs sustainable farming practices, including the traditional use of copper and sulfate and avoiding herbicides and chemical fertilizers.
