ABOUT THIS WINE
Valdespino Vermouth is an aperitif from the historic sherry producer Valdespino, located in Jerez, Spain. The wine draws its character from a base of aged Oloroso and Moscatel sherry wines, combined with a carefully selected blend of botanicals, fruits, and spices. Valdespino has a history of producing aperitif wines dating back to the late 19th century, with original recipes known as 'Tonics for the Sick.' The current vermouth revives these traditions, inspired by old Art Deco labels and recipes. Bodegas Valdespino traces its origins to 1264, making it one of the oldest sherry houses. The use of high-quality, aged sherry as a base, combined with a complex botanical blend and aging in Oloroso barrels, sets this vermouth apart.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Valdespino Vermouth is produced by macerating a carefully selected blend of botanicals, fruits, and spices in a base of quality sherry wines. The primary grape varieties used for the sherry base are Palomino and Moscatel, with some sources also mentioning Pedro Ximénez. The sherry base itself consists of aged Oloroso and Moscatel sherry wines. Following the maceration, the vermouth is aged in barrels that have previously contained Valdespino Oloroso wine. This process allows the various components to integrate and develop complexity.
