ABOUT THIS WINE
Vento e Sale is crafted by Agricola Caprera, an artisanal natural winery founded in 2012 by Luca Paolo Virgilio and Alfonso Morelli in the rugged foothills of the Apennines in Pietranico, Abruzzo. The estate spans 22 hectares of wild landscape, but only 4.5 hectares are dedicated to grapevines, fostering a balanced agricultural ecosystem. The wine's name, meaning 'Wind and Salt,' pays homage to the strong Adriatic winds that sweep across the high-altitude clay slopes, naturally aerating the grapes and leaving a distinct briny residue. This unique microclimate, combined with the ancient rock-carved viticultural heritage of Pietranico, gives the wine its distinct character.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Vento e Sale is rooted in low-intervention, natural principles. Sourced from a massal selection vineyard at 400–420 meters elevation, the Pecorino grapes are hand-harvested in late August and early September. In the cellar, the grapes are 100% destemmed, gently crushed, and pressed as whole berries. Fermentation is entirely spontaneous, driven by indigenous yeasts using a pied de cuve in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged on its fine lees in stainless steel and concrete tanks to build texture. To preserve its natural complexity, it is bottled unfiltered, unfined, and with minimal sulfur dioxide (under 25 mg/L).
