ABOUT THIS WINE
The Azores Wine Company Verdelho O Original 2023 is a dry white wine from the Azores, Portugal, made from 100% Verdelho grapes. The wine originates from a unique volcanic terroir where vines are planted in rock fissures close to the ocean. The Azores Wine Company is a project focused on the recovery and promotion of the region's viticultural heritage, founded by winemakers António Maçanita, Filipe Rocha, and Paulo Machado. The island of Pico, where many of these vineyards are located, is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its distinctive vineyard landscape.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Verdelho O Original undergoes whole bunch pressing, followed by natural racking within 12-24 hours. Spontaneous fermentation is initiated, occurring in horizontal stainless steel tanks (80%) and used French oak barrels (20%). A portion of the wine (30%) is aged for eight months on fine lees in used French oak barrels of varying sizes (228L to 500L).
