ABOUT THIS WINE
The Verdicchio di Matelica Spumante Brut 2015 from Borgo Paglianetto is a white sparkling wine made from 100% Verdicchio grapes. It originates from the Matelica DOC in the Marche region of Italy. Borgo Paglianetto was established in 2008 through the merger of two wineries, driven by a shared passion for the Matelica area and Verdicchio. Their winemaking philosophy emphasizes vineyard individuality and minimal intervention. The Matelica appellation is known for producing Verdicchio with distinct mineral complexity and floral characteristics, differentiating it from coastal Verdicchio from Jesi. This particular sparkling wine is a limited production, showcasing the versatility of the Verdicchio grape.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Verdicchio di Matelica Spumante Brut is produced using the traditional method (Metodo Classico). The must undergoes its first fermentation in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperatures. A second fermentation takes place in the bottle, followed by an extended aging period on lees for 36 to 45 months. After disgorgement, the wine rests for several months before release. The grapes are handpicked from vineyards at an average altitude of 350-375 meters, grown in clay-calcareous soils. Organic farming practices have been followed since 2013.
