ABOUT THIS WINE
The Verduno Pelaverga Cascina Massara 2022 is a red wine from the Verduno DOC in Piedmont, Italy, produced by Cascina Massara. It is made exclusively from the Pelaverga Piccolo grape, an indigenous variety cultivated in the Verduno municipality. Cascina Massara is a historic winery, established in the early 1900s and now managed by the fifth generation of the Burlotto family, who are committed to traditional winemaking practices. The wine's uniqueness stems from its rarity as a Pelaverga Piccolo expression and its characteristic spicy profile. The vineyards are situated at high altitudes with western exposure on soils composed of limestone, sand, and clay, contributing to the grape's even ripening and preserved freshness.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Verduno Pelaverga Cascina Massara 2022 is produced using grapes grown organically on limestone and sand soils. The Pelaverga Piccolo grapes are hand-harvested and undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks with skin contact, excluding stalks. Post-fermentation, the wine is aged in large barrels (botte grande) and then for a few months in the bottle. The DOC regulations require a minimum of approximately four months of aging. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration. The winery's philosophy centers on tradition and expressing the unique terroir of Verduno.
