ABOUT THIS WINE
Veselý by Richard Stávek is a natural wine from the Moravia region of the Czech Republic, produced in the 2021 vintage. Richard Stávek is a respected pioneer in Czech natural winemaking, known for his holistic approach and commitment to producing wines with minimal intervention. The estate is a family-run operation in Němčičky, South Moravia, where Stávek practices diversified agriculture. Veselý is a signature wine for the producer, originating from a single, old vineyard plot. It is crafted as a field blend, meaning multiple grape varieties are co-fermented, reflecting the specific terroir of the vineyard. The wine is made with indigenous yeasts, zero added sulfur, and is unfiltered and unfined, embodying Stávek's philosophy of 'honest natural wines without additives'. Annual production is very limited, around 1,000 bottles, making it a sought-after wine often featured in high-end restaurants.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Veselý by Richard Stávek is produced using a minimal intervention approach. The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo whole bunch fermentation with indigenous yeasts in open wooden tanks for about 14 days, followed by foot-stomping. The wine is made with zero added sulfur, and is bottled unfiltered and unfined. For the 2021 orange wine, aging took place over two years in large acacia barrels. This method emphasizes the natural character of the grapes and the vineyard, resulting in an authentic expression of the terroir. Annual production is approximately 1,000 bottles.
