ABOUT THIS WINE
The Suertes del Marqués Vidueño 2021 is a red wine from the Valle de la Orotava D.O. on Tenerife, Spain. Produced by Suertes del Marqués, the wine is a complex field blend of over 25 indigenous red and white grape varieties, with approximately 90% red and 10% white. The vineyards are ancient, some over 100 years old, planted on volcanic clay and sand soils in the steep Orotava Valley at altitudes between 300 and 800 meters. The winery employs organic and low-interventionist farming practices, including the traditional 'cordón trenzado' vine training method. The Vidueño is considered an experimental wine, showcasing the diversity of native grapes and representing a modern wave of fine wine from Tenerife driven by a philosophy of minimal intervention and respect for terroir.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Suertes del Marqués Vidueño is produced using a field blend of over 25 indigenous red and white grape varieties. Vines are ancient, some over 100 years old, and are farmed using organic and low-interventionist practices. The harvest is manual. Vinification involves fermentation with indigenous yeasts and whole clusters, typically in concrete tanks or bins. The wine is then aged for 10-11 months in neutral or used French oak barrels (228-liter and 500-liter). It is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
