This wine originates from the volcanic terroir of Mount Etna, primarily featuring the Nerello Mascalese grape, often likened to Pinot Noir. Carranco, established in 2018, is a collaboration between historic Barolo producer Borgogno and Sicilian producer Tornatore, aiming to express the unique character of Etna's volcanic soil and climate. The vineyards are situated on the north side of Mount Etna, at approximately 500 meters above sea level, with old vines cultivated using traditional methods on terraces.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Villa dei Baroni Etna Rosso is produced using grapes from old vines, typically 50-60 years old, cultivated on terraces on the north side of Mount Etna. The grapes are fermented in cement tanks. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes aging for about 12 months in large oak barrels. The vineyard management employs traditional Gobelet vine training and sustainable agriculture practices.
