ABOUT THIS WINE
Villota Blanco is an oak-aged white wine from DOCa Rioja, produced by Villota (Viñas del Lentisco - Villota). The 2021 vintage is a blend primarily of Viura, with smaller amounts of Garnacha Blanca, Malvasía, and Tempranillo Blanco. The grapes are sourced from the historic Finca San Rafael estate in Rioja Alavesa, owned by the Villota family since 1930. The family has a long-standing history in Rioja winemaking, having been key suppliers to renowned producers and co-founders of one of the region's first single-estate wineries. Their philosophy centers on expressing the unique character of their land through meticulous, low-intervention viticulture.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Villota Blanco is produced using low-intervention viticulture on the Villota family's historic Finca San Rafael estate. Grapes are meticulously sorted after a manual harvest. The must is fermented in stainless steel tanks, with malolactic fermentation avoided to maintain freshness. The primary Viura component is then aged for six months in French oak barriques and puncheons, with regular bâtonnage (lees stirring) to enhance complexity and texture. This process results in an oak-aged white wine that reflects the character of its origin.
