ABOUT THIS WINE
Viña Salceda Rioja Crianza 2020 is a red wine from the DOCa Rioja appellation in Spain. Established in 1969, Viña Salceda is now owned by the Chivite Family, known for their winemaking tradition. The winery aims to produce contemporary wines that reflect the terroir, blending traditional methods with modern approaches. This Crianza is made from old vines cultivated using traditional and sustainable practices, including manual pruning and harvesting, and tilling instead of herbicides. The vineyards are located in the Rioja Alavesa sub-region at an altitude of 410 to 450 meters, on clay-limestone soils. The wine undergoes aging in American oak barrels, contributing to its complex profile. The blend primarily features Tempranillo, with contributions from Mazuelo and Graciano.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Viña Salceda Rioja Crianza 2020 is produced using traditional winemaking methods. Grapes are fermented in concrete tanks, with a cold pre-fermentation maceration for 5 days followed by alcoholic fermentation for 10 days at controlled temperatures. Malolactic fermentation also occurs in concrete. The wine then undergoes aging for at least 12 months in American oak barrels. Vineyard management includes traditional practices such as tilling and manual pruning and harvesting, with a focus on low yields from old vines.
